How to make Chicha, a Venezuelan rice drink

For when you're in a hurry! Makes 1 pitcher.

  1. Blend 1 cup of rice until almost flour consistency
  2. Boil 3 cups of water with the rice flour mixed in, stirring until it thickens
  3. Let the mixture cool for a bit
  4. Blend one container of sweetened condensed milk, a container full of milk, and one teaspoon of vanilla
  5. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency

Makes 1 gallon

Instructions

  1. Rinse rice, then boil 2 cups rice with 7 cups of water at low simmer
  2. Cook for approximately 30 minutes or until rice is close to disintegrating and water is mostly evaporated
  3. Blend in batches until you run out of cooked rice:
  1. Mix everything in the large bowl and add 1 tbsp vanilla
  2. Taste the chicha and add more sugar as desired
  3. Allow chicha to cool in refrigerator (cover with plastic wrap to maintain freshness)
  4. Serve chilled and enjoy!
